Want first dibs on making new memories in a new home? The best way to accomplish that is a new home build, of course. It’s still more affordable to build versus buy in Utah, making new construction a popular choice among homebuyers. It’s also the perfect opportunity to christen the walls with a trendy wallpaper of your choice, instead of having to first scrape off that pink floral paper from the ‘50s.

If you’re totally new to Utah, or even a local moving to a new area, you may not know which neighborhoods will fit your lifestyle. KSL Homes is here to show you some popular build locations with neighborhood tidbits so you can quickly find a city you love.*

Salt Lake County | Young professional haven

Even though Salt Lake County is the most populated county in the state, there are still plenty of new builds popping up in 2023. Metropolites that don’t daydream of large yards will love the chic new townhomes or condos within Salt Lake City. Young professionals and students will thrive here, being near the Central Business District, restaurants, shopping and University of Utah. The walkable neighborhoods, bike lanes and TRAX rail system make getting around a cinch.

If you prefer backyard elbow room but still want big city amenities, new builds in South and West Jordan are just 20 minutes from downtown. Professional suburbanites and young families will enjoy the plethora of parks and the proximity to the cycle-friendly Jordan River Trail.

Utah County | Tech and family

Utah County is home to Silicon Slopes, Utah’s tech capitol. More companies means more employees, which means more new homes built in this area.

At its heart is the now-bustling Lehi, host to Adobe, Micron and family-friendly attractions like the Museum of Natural Curiosity. The nearby city of Eagle Mountain feels more remote while still being close to tech jobs, but even closer to the underexplored Lake Mountains. New builds offer proximity to backyard mountain biking, hiking and unbeatable views of Utah Lake and the Wasatch Mountain Range. This area is perfect for young families looking to grow alongside a budding community.

Washington County | Desert dwellings

For better weather seekers, southern Utah is a hot spot for new builds. St. George is popular for both those 65 and older and those that want access to the 65 miles of urban trails. Washington is another popular area to build and just 10 minutes north. It has a more small-town feel, but with the same perks of being near Utah Tech University, Zion National Park excursions and Sand Hollow and Quail Creek State Parks for boating. There is room for everyone, from growing families to grandparents growing old.

Davis and Weber Counties | Northern goodies

Northern Utah isn’t just “almost Idaho.” There’s so much goodness in between the state’s capital and our beautiful spud neighbors. Outdoorsy folk that want less crowds should look into the Ogden or Layton areas for new home builds.

Stroll through hipster-friendly downtowns or near the bison on Antelope Island. Both of these cities are near Willard Bay State Park where you can camp, boat and bird watch on the Great Salt Lake. They’re both close to Weber State University and Snowbasin Ski Resort, perfect for the weekday college student turned weekend ski bum.

Keep it simple

Homes aren’t just being built in Utah’s big cities. Smaller cities are drawing in people that want to ditch the crowds for room to roam and extra simplicity. Build in Cedar City for tons of open wilderness and the Shakespeare Festival. Or start new in Heber City for close access to Park City.

Whether you want mountain ridge views or cityscape views, KSL Homes is sure to help you find the ideal place to build.
